Searching for a car seat for my 99 Mazda Miata
Can anyone help. I have not been able to find the Miata listed on the www.car-safety.org/ database. Does anyone know of a listing somewhere out there or does anyone have a Miata with a car seat? Help! (I can disable the passenger air bag so that's not a problem) |

You might have to do it the old fashioned way...
The compatibility database is completely based on anecdotal entries from parents and technicians. It is NOT exclusive, and may not even be correct in some cases. As 2-seaters are not very kid friendly, it is likely that there just haven't been any parents with kids in such vehicles that have taken the time to submit reports. That doesn't mean it will be difficult to find a seat that fits. It is rare at a carseat checkup event that we find complete incompatibility between a carseat and a vehicle. While it does happen, most will fit. I recommend that you shop for a seat appropriate to your child's age and weight. Find one with features that will make it easy to use (see the Buying Guide link at the top of the page). Make sure you get a good return policy, in case it doesn't fit. Then, make sure to have it inspected by a local technician. Many hospitals, police and fire departments have a certified technician on staff who will do a free inspection. Finally, if you do find something, please post back here to help other parents in the future, and also submit it to the compatibility database. Thanks! |
