Third Row Seat
I am considering purchasing a new 2003 Ford Explorer with a 3rd row seat. I currently have a 91/2 month old and my wife ant I are planning on haveing another child. I know the middle of the seat is the safest for an infant but is it safe/safer to put one child in the third row seat in the middle (In particular the Explorer) or put both children in the 2nd row next to one another? ~Thanks, Dan |

This is a tough decision-
I am not aware of any studies comparing a second row outboard position with a third row center position. Both have slight advantages and disadvantages in regard to safety. Assuming both positions had an available tether anchor, I would choose whichever one resulted in the best fit. If the carseat fits well in both spots, pick whichever is most convenient. Also see this earlier discussion: pub59.ezboard.com/fcarsaf...D=48.topic Good luck! Darren |
