Question Recaro Start expiry?

I'm pretty sure I have read on here in a number of places that the Recaro Start does not have an expiration date. Its mostly for that reason I went about researching it, and while reading the manual this morning online, I found this:

Discontinue use of your Start child restraint if older than eight years or if it has been in a severe crash to prevent injury due to deterioration or hidden damage.

Here is the link for the manual, its on page 3 of the manual, page 5 of the PDF document.

Am I misreading? :confused: On the Recaro website it says the Start manual which I linked to above has an effective date of 10/27/2006.

Shhh.... don't tell dh. It was one of the selling points when I was talking him into letting me get it! ;)

Yup, must be new. At least they gave us 8, not a measley 6 :whistle: (My manual doesn't have an expiration date, so I don't think it applies to me :cool:)

Mine's a discontinued cover, so maybe it won't apply to me, either. :whistle:

I can guarantee you I'll be calling Recaro about it, though. I'm fairly certain that "no expiration" was listed as a "feature" on the website I ordered from.
