Is Summer Infant Deluxe Piddle Pad safe to use with car seats?

I'm not a big fan of that one because you need to feed the crotch buckle up through it.

With my own kids I use disposable puppy pads for those few weeks that we are no longer using pull-ups for outings, but things aren't quite 100% reliable.

I lay the puppy pad down diagonal and bring a corner up in front of kiddos crotch and then buckle.

Of course this isn't a running endorsement for such a practice, but I'm willing to admit its what I do with my own kids and am not worried about it enough to not do it. Admittedly it's one of those areas where the exhausted mom part of me wins over... like if I have to strip one more car seat to the bones and wash one more pee soaked cover I'm going to rip my hair out. So out come the puppy pads.

I do something similar - a thin thin change pad that was left over from my cloth diapering days (it's a layer of PUL and a layer of thin fleece), and on top of that a thin hemp or cotton prefold. I make sure to wrap the edge of the water proof part up the back a bit, and to also wrap it up between the crotch strap and the child. I've made the mistake of not doing that, and also made the mistake of no absorbent layer, and both resulted in the pee just pooling and running out the edge. Properly positioned though it works nicely.

There's no official answer to what is the right way to do it. The 'right way' is never pee in your car seat :) Sitting on what is basically a diaper, that until very recently they were wearing, doesn't concern me. It's not thick, it's not interfering with harness fit or adjustment, and common sense must prevail. No one likes cleaning a stinky pee car seat.

I hope it's safe because I have the same pad and love it. The Diono dry seat sucks. My 3 yr old occasionally pees in her sleep and it has been a lifesaver. I don't enjoy washing Radian covers. It fits the seat perfectly and is no thicker than a prefold.
