Need TA for 99 Suburban!

So right now I am driving a 1999 Chevy Suburban and have one of my kids on the second row. (two are in the third row and there are two TAs back there) For the second row you are supposed to be able to get the TAs that buckle into the female end of the third row seat belt.

So I called our Chevy dealer today and the man in parts spent several minutes looking all over and he said everything he could find says that the part is discontinued. Anyone have any idea how I can get my hands on at least one of these?! Preferably three so I can do three across in the second row.....

There are tether anchors in the 3rd row of a '99 Suburban? Really? (not trying to be snarky) My Dad has a '99 'burb and I've never seen them. So, I'm truly curious. It will make life easier on some trips if there truly is TA.

If I remember correctly, the farthest cargo tie-down anchors toward the back of the Suburban can be used as tether anchors in the '99.

For something to tether 2nd row seats to 3rd row seat belts, the piece is basically just a bare latchplate. I bet you could get a seat belt out of a junk yard suburban, cut all the webbing off it, and it would work.:duck:

Serious? Really? Is there one in the middle? Cuz that would solve our problems if there is... :D

What about using the latchplate of the lapbelt in the 3rd row center? Would that be allowed?

As far as anchoring seats to the 3rd row seat belts, that thread I referenced above is really all I know. Maybe someone else can chime in.

For anchoring seats to the cargo tie-downs, there is a V-shaped strap you can get that essentially hooks to both tether anchors and has a ring in the middle so you can tether a center-positioned seat. But I'm sorry I don't have the part number. Perhaps the part number is available in the LATCH manual? Which I don't have.

It's important to note that later Suburbans are not supposed to use these make-shift anchor points. I know they apply to the '99. I don't know for sure what other model years approve these places for tether anchors. I'm sure the LATCH manual would say.

GM tether anchor part number/part specs are not listed in the LATCH manual for retrofittable GM models, unfortunately, because part numbers change over time and GM dealerships are supposed to have the current part information (this is mentioned at the top of every GM branded section in the LATCH manual with one exception, Saturn, which does list part numbers).

Bummed about the TA for the second row. :( And yes, the two triangle shaped cargo 'rings' closest to the rear of the vehicle are the TAs for the third row. :)

This has made my day! I've been so worried about when the day would come my now 2 year old would be FFing (probably at 3 or 3.5, he is small) and there was no TA in my babysitter's vehicle! I am feeling so releaved right now! I love this site!
