Quick question for SIL about her Marathon
Hey guys-
My SIL has a 2003 Marathon that she got from a friend (totally know the history and it was never in a accident) and we went to install it and there is no D-ring. I know we can order one from Britax but in the meantime is the Marathon safe to use w/o the rear facing tether? Thanks guys!!!! Also, they got a new cover and the harness was out in the bottom when I got it....does the thigh straps just go into the slots on the sides???? Hope that makes sense. Thanks again.

Re: Quick question for SIL about her Marathon
I am not a tech, but I'm sure a few will chime in.
You can use the Britax without the tether, just order one and install it when you get it. It's safe to use, it's just safer with the tether. The harness straps go through 2 sets of slots on the bottom (by child's bottom) of the seat. You might need to turn it upside down to see the 2nd slots. Fortunately, we have 2 MAs, so I can look at the other, otherwise I would have been turning one over at a store to verify placement. (Someone might have pix, mine are both installed right now - sorry!)

Re: Quick question for SIL about her Marathon
Use it without, and she will be fine. It is safer with the seat being tethered, but okay to use with out. Call Britax immediatley, and as soon as the d-ring arrives, install it!

Re: Quick question for SIL about her Marathon
There are two sets of slots in the cover down by the bum area. The first set are wider and are right above the RF lock-offs. These are for a quick seatbelt install. The second set are further back towards the bight of the seat (where the back and bum portion meets). These are the slots for the harness straps to go through.
Do you have the manual? It can be found online here... http://www.britaxusa.net/pdf/guide_marathon.pdf You do not need to tether the seat RF to use it. Call Britax and order the d-ring. Once it gets here, you can add it to your install. It will also make the RF install a lot easier as you can use the RF tether to adjust the recline angle.
