WWYD seat placement

Vehicle stats=

2000 dodge grand caravan
2 tether anchors for middle row bench
none installed(yet) for back bench

Current seats & locations=

middle bench- rf intera driver side outboard, ff regent passenger/center
rear bench- safeseat1 passenger outboard

Question...
Would you be willing to put the regent 3rd row, untethered(temporarily) with long belt path(provided it can be done) so that you can put the infant on the middle bench?

I'm currently lifting the ss1 in through the rear of the van but some days its not so easy and when we go out as a family it would be nice for the passenger to be able to reach back to tend to baby if need be.

I'm not sure I want my 2yo rf on the back bench-i dont really want the infant there either...feel more comfortable having the ff seat that close to the rear(is there any reason it would be better to have ff [or rf child there?])

Thanks for your input

Re: WWYD seat placement

I would leave them as is until you can get a tether anchor installed. It only took a half hour to get mine done, so once you set up the appointment it goes pretty quick.

Re: WWYD seat placement

From your signature, it looks like kiddo is less than 50# so I'd feel fine having the Regent in the 3rd row temporarily untethered so that baby could be closer

In a rear impact a rf child would be slightly farther away from the point of impact. In a minor collision probably not a huge difference, in a higher speed one it could make a difference. I'm not sure how much of one though.

I'd probably be more comfortable with the 2yr old rf'ing in the back until you can get a tether anchor installed and the baby in the middle bench.

I'm thinking mostly from a structural integrity POV in a rear impact collision though, in combination with your 2yr old being better able to withstand an accident than an infant.
