Tether anchors in a 2000 Caravan?

I thought 2000 was the year vehicles starting being manufactured with tether anchors. Am I wrong? I helped my friend with her seats tonight and couldn't find any tether anchors in her van at all. Was I looking in the wrong places or was it 2001?! TIA!

Re: Tether anchors in a 2000 Caravan?

According to the LATCH manual, the '96-'00 Caravan and Grand Caravan have tether options in both the 2nd row outboard positions and in all three 3rd row seating positions.
Quote:
"Tether Anchor installation program: DaimlerChrysler dealers will install tether anchors in certain older model year Chrysler Group vehicles free of charge. Please have the dealer refer to Technical Serice Bulletin 23-08-00 Rev. A for details on this policy."
Part numbers:
Second Row Outboard: 04864118AB
Third Row Center: 05018506AA
Third Row Outboard: 05018506AA (same as center)

'89-'95 have anchor options in the same seating positions, but the part numbers are different, and '01 or newer vehicles have LATCH or TAs preinstalled, but number and location vary from year to year.

HTH!

Re: Tether anchors in a 2000 Caravan?

You're right about 2000, but it was toward the end of the year. Tether anchors became required in September 2000, so probably not seen on most cars until the next model year.

Re: Tether anchors in a 2000 Caravan?

We have a July 2000 GrandCaravan and there are not tether anchors. I think the September model has them.

I just had a rental (2006 or 2007?) and there was only one tether anchor in the 3rd row bench, ( I was quite surprised).

Re: Tether anchors in a 2000 Caravan?

shirada, you can have anchors installed in your Grand Caravan. I listed the part numbers above.
