How much should an infant seat wiggle in the base?

We have a new Cybex Aton infant seat, and I'm not sure if it's wiggling within the range of normal or has something wrong with it that warrants a return or exchange. When it's clicked securely into the base, it rattles side to side significantly (less than an inch, but quite noticeably)---much more than I expected it to. Is this usual or to be expected with an infant seat? (The seat isn't installed in the car yet, so this isn't the base rattling---it's sitting on the floor, but doesn't move.) The handle for the seat also wiggles back and forth in the locked position, which also surprised me---but this is our first car seat so I literally have no clue what's completely normal and what's out of the usual!

I'd love any feedback on whether infant seats typically would have some give when they're installed in the base, and specifically, if anyone has experience with this seat, should it do this? Thanks!

I'd say it's pretty common for infant seats to have some wiggle room while latched into the base. All of mine have. Nothing mind-blowing, but a little back-and-forth wiggle. As long as your base is properly installed in the vehicle seat and you're certain the bucket has clamped/hooked fully into the base, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

ETA: Phineasmama has an Aton, installed and with a baby in it, if you'd like to PM her and get her take on it. :)

Thanks! I have a question into Cybex/Regal Lager to try to find out if they consider this normal, and if so we'll try installing in the car and see how bad the rattling is when we're driving---just hard to know what to expect!

I have an Aton (installed, but not in use yet) and it's VERY wiggly. It also feels very secure, so it's not something I'm overly concerned about.

Is it also normal for there to be a wiggle within the base for the cloud q? Thanks for your help?
