Britax lock-offs question

I took an 8 hour car seat training yesterday and we talked about locking clips. The instructors said the reason the locking clip needs to be close to the latchplate is because if/when it pops off in a collision, there will be too much slack in belt.

Makes sense - but then why is it okay to use the lock-off farthest away from the latch plate on the RF Britax seats? It seems to me like this would cause the same problem as having a locking clip on the opposite side of the belt from the latch plate. Britax even says in the manuals to use the lockoff further from the latch plate - though I know from reading on this board that you can use either or both.

Thanks a lot. This has me a little confused.

Re: Britax lock-offs question

Britax has OK'd using either one or both, meaning they've tested them and found it to be fine. Locking clips either have not been tested that way or were tested and failed.
