Question Ford explorer 2006 and FF Britax Marathon

I tried to install my Britax marathon seat font facing in one of the 2 side positions of the rear seat (there is another car seat in the center position already), but since the head rests are not removable and they are tilted forward, the car seat cannot be installed. Has anyone else encountered this problem?? Do I call ford to talk to someone about it??
Thanks!
Robyn

Re: Ford explorer 2006 and FF Britax Marathon

From looking at some interior pictures, it looks like the headrests can be adjusted higher. Is that the case? Can they be raised and lowered? If so, that would be the first thing I would try - raising it higher to see if that gets it out of the way. If you've already done that and it still doesn't fit, we can go from there .

ETA: Can the headrests flip back behind the seat? I know in some of the GM SUVs, the headrests are not removeable, but fold down behind the back of the seat. I realize you have a Ford, but I figured it was worth asking .

Re: Ford explorer 2006 and FF Britax Marathon

I am having the same problem with two car seats, the Eddie Bauer high back booster and a Graco, can't remeber the type. The headrests do not move higher and they actually flip forward when folding the seats. If you do find an answer, please post. Thanks.

The rear headrests can be removed. I found a thread that gives instructions so please ignore my last post. Look on the plastic rings at the bottom of the headrest posts, there are holes small enough for a pin or straightened paper clip. Push the pin/paperclip and pull up on the headrest. You need to do this on both posts and you may have to switch back and forth between posts to shimmy it off. I did have to push the pin a little harded than I expected. Good luck.
