installing BM in 98 Jeep Cherokee

Ok, so We got a new vehicle last week, a 98 Jeep Cherokee. We use to drive a 95 Dodge Neon, and I could install carseats perfectlly fine in there, solid as a rock always. my son is FF in a BM, and my Daughter is in her new BM RF, My question is, The seem losse, I installed them correctly, as far as to my knowledge, Erika is Tethered rear facing behind the driver seat, but they feel loose after a few days. I get right in the seat, and put pressure where her feet would be while I tighten the belt, it feels tight, but a few days later there loose again? Feel almost like the seat underneath is too squishy.. because when I undo the seatbelt, the seat like pops up and almost hits me in the face. It's not like I can take the seats to get them inspected either, because there nowhere to get it done here. Which is why I want to become a car seat safety tech, so I can help other parents where I am, because there's no program up here for instaling and checking car seats. Which is scary..

Re: installing BM in 98 Jeep Cherokee

Are you using the Lock-offs on the Marathon?

The carseat should be tight at the seatbelt path before you ever attach the rear-facing tether. Do you know if the carseat is tight (less than an inch movement at the beltpath) before you install the rear-facing tether?

Re: installing BM in 98 Jeep Cherokee

Flip the buckle upside down if it continues to loosen, and twist the female beltstalk (no more than 3 full turns) if need be to get a secure installation.

Re: installing BM in 98 Jeep Cherokee

the car seat is tight when I first install it, but over a few days it loosens... I will try twisting the belt, which side is female?

Thank you for all your help ladies.

Re: installing BM in 98 Jeep Cherokee

Since it's secure at first and then loosens, take the male end of the buckle (the part that goes in to the other part) and turn it upside down before buckling. The locking latchpplate works by holding the seatbelt parallel to itself. If it's slipping, the angle of the buckle is wrong and flipping it over will fix that.
