AO question
Does the Cosco AO have to have a headrest behind it like the Apex does?
If it doesn't I have a friend wanting to install her AO in the middle of a Ford Eplorer and tether to the side (I think here we determined that was okay). I also want to see if we can get it installed without it sitting on the buckle as I don't feel comfortable with the seat sitting on the buckle. |

Re: AO question
I don't think so...
I sold my 2 AO's recently and no longer have the manual, but I don't recall any mention of headrests being necessary. AFAIK the Apex is the only seat with this requirement, but maybe someone else can chime in with a more definite opinion.

Here is a link to the Cosco website page where you can enter your model number and date of manufacture in order to access the manual online. My manual is on my carseat at home in the basement...but that is not where I am. I don't recall the AO needing a headrest.

Join Starlight's Book Club, read your manuals! Car seats are cheaper than caskets & you can use them more than once. How much did your wedding cost? How long did it last? Does your child's safety seem more affordable now? |

Re: AO question
No, you don't need a headrest with the AO. The majority of seats actually get a better install without the headrest imo. But don't do that with the Apex, because you do need the headrest. I am on the phone with a Aidensmom who is a tech, so I am getting the real deal here, as she gives it to me. I would recommend to everyone to get a new bestfriend who is a tech, cause it's just easier.

Re: AO question
I have the AOE and it doesn't say anywhere in the manual that you need the headrest. I find it easier without the headrest.
