For two days now I haven't been able to access the site from my desktop or laptop. It keeps telling me Internet explorer can't find it. I'm really not techy at all. Anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!

Is it only www.car-seat.org that is affected or also www.car-safety.org and www.carseatblog.com ?

Are all computers in your house affected?

If so, can you access the website on your notebook if you connect at a library, coffee shop or elsewhere?

If you have a smartphone, does it load the website? What happens if you try to set it to use your home network Wifi instead of its cellphone signal?

This could be any number of issues, from a problem with your service provider's DNS equipment or a problem with their network to a problem with your home network firewall or security software blocking car-seat.org.

I am having the exact same issue. Server not found in firefox and Internet explorer on my laptop or safari on my iPhone, but when I shut off wifi and go on 3G I can get on. I don't know what is going on

I'm also having the same problem. I can't access any of the site unless I log in from somewhere else. I am logged in on my neighbor's wifi right now.
What should I check for on my network?

What internet service providers do you have?

Does your neighbor use the same company?

This sounds like a case where something between your computer and the forum's service provider is blocking you. Perhaps a computer in the link between your provider and ours is down or very slow and times out. Perhaps your provider has our provider on a black list (this can happen if they have responded to abuse complaints from other customers on the same system). Perhaps even a sneaky person in your house blacklisted Car-Seat.org on your home router;-) I would suggest calling your provider and see if they can help you troubleshoot this.

In that the forums are working in general, I can not think of anything else to try. If it was a cookie or cache issue, it would generally not affect other browsers on the same computer or other computers on the same network.

If you are using a cable modem or dsl modem, it might also be worth trying to connect your notebook or desktop directly to it, bypassing your home wife/router network. That would eliminate your router as a possible problem.

Thanks Darren.
That's all GReek to me, but I'll pull it up via the neighbor's network and show it to DH when he gets home.
My mom joked that maybe he blocked c-s.org so I'll stop buying car seats.

I really do need anyone with this problem to provide some essential information:

1) Operating system

2) Interner browser

3) Internet service provider (AT&T, Comcast, etc)

4) Can you access any of the sites linked above, if so which ones

Without all this information, it is difficult to troubleshoot. If you contact your own internet company, they will probably need much of the same information.

1. I have tried with Windows XP and Windows 7
2. I have tried with IE, Firefox and Google Chrome
3. Frontier (was Verizon)
4. I can only access the numerical address from my own network. I can access all of them from my neighbor's, but I don't even know which neighbor it is, let alone who their ISP is.

"Doug's" ISP is the same as mine, but his hub city is different than mine is.

I'm sort of stumped by this one. Since you CAN reach the forums through the numeric IP link, the problem is not with the server that hosts the forums. Since other sites hosted by the same provider are affected, I have to guess that this is a nameserver issue. This is the server at each provider that tells the world what numeric IP address and domain name correspond to what particular website files. For some reason, your internet service provider is not seeing that information or it is being blocked somewhere from your computer up the line.

I think this is definitely worth a call to your provider. With the information in this thread, a competent tech should be able to troubleshoot the problem, or at least determine if the issue is in your home network, their own network or somewhere beyond.

additional peice to the puzle or whole other puzle-
I am permentantly logged in using firefox but chrome it keeps telling me I am not entering the captcha image right (I can't remember password) so I can't log in there. I can go on as a non member and see some forum stuff.

You shouldn't get a CAPTCHA at all for login. Can you post a screenshot of this please?

Rodentranger mentioned Frontier. I think it is definitely worth a call to their tech support. You can even refer them to this thread if they escalate you to someone that can help you troubleshoot. I suspect Fronter isn't able to "see" the nameservers for the provider of Car-Seat.Org for some reason.
