Tipping booster

As some of you know my ProBooster came Friday. I finally had a chance to try it out in the car. I had to un-install the Frontier in the center to make it happen. Anyway, the seat is outboard (behind driver/me) in a 2002 Grand Cherokee.

Today, my son rode in it to church (about 1.5 miles away). He was exceited. When we got to church he said he didn't like the booster because it was too loose. Sure enough he could wiggle the whole back portion of the seat from side to side.

On the way home I watched him as we turned corners. Whenever I made a turn the seat would tip. It didn't matter how fast or how slow I was going. The only time it didn't tip was when I would turn right from a complete stop.

What can I do to fix this? Is this normal? Is it due to the leather seats? His only other dedicated booster is the Oobr and we've not had this issue. In my car it sits three across (no LATCH) so it doesn't tip. In every other car we install it using LATCH so, again, no tipping issues.

Is the recline bar in the up position or down? I had that problem when it was in the up position, but not in the down position. I guess it could also be a drawback to the light weight of the seat and the narrow footprint.

The recline bar on the ProBooster is down. It really tips. He is almost on his side.

I tried the Oobr just now by itself in the car. It tips slightly with left hand turns, but not nearly as bad as the ProBooster. My son was holding on to the handle above the door when he rode in the ProBooster to keep from tipping.

Is the lap belt cinched down really tightly? (In this case, the tighter the belt, the less likely the base is to shift in the vehicle seat.)

Hmmm, I'll be watching this thread. I know my dd1 doesn't tip at all in her GN (latched & tethered in booster mode) and she didn't in her Oobr. But she tips on the TB. I didn't even think of this issue with the ProBooster
