I hate them. ![]() (Note I do not mean an inch of *movement*, I mean I could pick the seat belt up and pull it at least an inch away from the car seat.)Locking seat belts indeed. ![]() (FTR, our's is a '99 Caravan.) Last edited by unityco; 05-18-2010 at 08:47 PM. |

Re: Caravan seat belts
i have 2 caravans & my mom has one. 94, 01 & 06 & all 3 are excellent for installing seats. never a problem. well i used to think it was i was using alocking clip when it was completly unnecessary before i knew better. i hate those locking clips. now installing is a breeze. sorry you have trouble.

Re: Caravan seat belts
MIL's '99 is the same thing. Within minutes a rock solid install will tip sideways. I usually flip the belt and that seems to work (or just use a lock-off seat.)
My Mother's old Stratus is also a PITA, same belt deal. '99 I think? My 2001 Caravan was excellent, though. Man...I miss my van.

Re: Caravan seat belts
I've had the same issue...then it was back to locking clips.
That's why I love Britax so much...now I'm trying all these other funky new seats and needing locking clips again.

Re: Caravan seat belts
We have an '06 and I have to use a locking clip when installing seats. I don't like the "hit and miss" philosophy of the belts and would rather be sure my kid's seat is going to stay put.

Re: Caravan seat belts
My mom had a 1997 (maybe a 96 I would have to call to ask) Grand Caravan and we never had an issue with the belt loosening. I could always get it in nice and tight. It would say that way even with months of unuse (we live in OH and they live in FL). Same for my dad's 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. No issues.

Re: Caravan seat belts
My 96 was so bad that you could see the seat belt loosening as soon as you let go of the shoulder belt.

Re: Caravan seat belts
Interesting.
My mom's Town & Country is an '03. I've never had an issue with installing my girls' car seats in her van, it's actually way easier than my car. We just got back from Disney World and my parents took us to/from the airport. We left the girls' car seats installed in her van while we were gone for the week, but before putting the girls in them when we arrived back from Disney I checked the installs to make sure they were still ok. They were still rock solid. So I guess she doesn't have this problem, thankfully!

Re: Caravan seat belts
My '97 Town & Country's belt's are "slippy", too. We twist the male end of the belt one half twist and then buckle it. It stays then.
It definitely is a pain. henrietta |
