Moved child to middle- need a booster!

Share |

My son is 7.5, 65lbs, and 50inches. He was on the window side however he was just moved to the middle seat in my 01 camry. He was in a low-back booster but now there is no headrest and I think he may need a high-back booster to prevent whiplash in case of an accident. I am not sure which one to buy. I can not put him on an end right now, because the seat belt is broken. What should I buy? I was looking at the hbb graco turbobooster but wasn't sure if he's too tall for that?

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

Most 7.5 year olds are not too tall for a high back Turbo. It gets most kids to at least eight, if not nine or older.

Can you sit him in it and try it out before you buy?

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

How would one measure? Where does the seatbelt/booster need to be? Should i look at other boosters as well?

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

If his shoulder is above the belt guide in its highest position then he's outgrown it.

It sounds like you need something today, is that right? If so that would be my first choice. If you can shop online then I'd also look at the Sunshine Kids Monterey and the Britax Parkway.

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

Probably a silly question, but I'm just making sure that the middle position of your Camry is a lap-shoulder belt. A lot of cars from that MY had a lap belt only in the middle position.

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

My 49" child is on the fourth of sixth height adjustments in her Turbobooster, so I'd guess she has about 4" to grow in it.

Re: Moved child to middle- need a booster!

weird question... why did he move to the middle?

I mean, if the middle has no headrest, why not just put him outboard?... unless others are sitting there, in which case, boosters to recommend would depend on how well they will puzzle with other people and/or other seats.
