Radian XTSL in '06 Silverado

I'm in desperate need of help getting my Radian into my husband's '06 extended cab (4 door) Silverado. I am trying to install it with latch into the center (rear) seat. It does have latch but the latch is positioned about 1 inch above the seat bight (akward location). We need the seat in the middle as my husband drives a tall co-worker in the passenger seat and it is a company car.

I install it by pulling the carseat back from the seat bight, connecting latch connectors, and then stand behind the seat and apply pressure to the foot area while tightening seat. I get a fairly upright install (husband helped me push on the carseat and tighten latch). It is really rock solid with no movement and can't be tightened anymore.

The minute my son sits in the seat, the foot of the Radian slides into the seat bight and the seat is reclined to well over 45 degrees. Ahhh!!! We've installed it over 5 times now using all of our joint might and had the same results.

Any recommendations? It is in the back of a truck, so I insist that the seat be tethered rear-facing. My son has outgrown the Britax seats by weight, so if this doesn't work he's going forward facing (2 years 8 months).

I have gotten good installs in my '06 Sienna and an awesome super easy install in my mom's '10 Prius. Anyone with luck in this truck or any tips? I really want this to work. :(

If it's the awkward location of the LATCH connectors you may have better luck with a seatbelt install :)

I've always had better luck w/ seatbelt anyway, even in vehicles w/ easy to access latch. One is not better than the other---whichever gives you the better install is the one you should use.

We had my son's Radian 65 installed center of our '03 Silverado ext cab with seatbelt. Much easier than LATCH IMO. Did you see that there is actually a top tether point on the back of the passenger seat? You can use that for the top tether point.

Thanks so much! I'll try the seatbelt install when my husband gets home. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the tip on the top tether point on the back of the passenger seat as well. That's great!

Another weekend of tackling the Radian in the truck.
