checking interest ...columbia special needs seat

This seat was donated to me by a long time student's family. He passed away a couple years back. Manufactured in Feb 2000 but when I called Columbia they said that they do not expire. They told me it was never in an accident and the took good care of it. I knew them for 8+ years so I have a good relationship with them. I would be willing to let it go FFS if someone here has a need. I am on the west coast. Its not too heavy though. http://www.adaptivemall.com/colcarseat1.html

I volunteer for an organization here that has classes for adults and I was watching the children for them. There was this special needs 7 year old that seriously needs a seat. They are WAY below poverty level. I don't know anything about the family except that this little boy can't even sit up. The seat he was in was not safe at all, and I've been trying to work with our safekids to help them out.

If shipping is not too much for 49006, I would like it to surprise this family.

Well, it certainly wouldn't be 'illegal' to use it. If you're asking if I would choose to use it? No, I would not. I wouldn't recommend that someone else use it either.

For seats without a stated expiration date, NHTSA recommends disposing of a product outside of 10 years.

hmmm now this surprises me. I just emailed the company and was told the columbia 2000 has a 10 year life. It caught me off guard as I thought a "medical device" would be more durable.
