Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

Ok i took both seats in so this is all uninstalled, ect.... here it is though

Scenera Uptown

Slots Bot. 7" Bottem 9"
Second 9.5" Second 11"
Third 12.5" Third 13"
Fourth 15" Fourth 16"

top of shell to Top of shell to
top slots 7.5" top slots "8.5

Front base Front base
of seat 15.5" of seat 16.5"

Base of seat Base of seat
to top of shell 23" to top of shell 24.5"

widest point of widest point of
back of seat 17.5" back of seat 16.5"

Ok so i'd say with all the extra padding, harness covers, and EPP foam, AND enought growth room for 1-2 years it's worth the extra $50 over the scenera and glad very glad i have it! It will leave allie in it longer so that i don't have to move abby out of the radian a while longer! :P

The shoulders look kind of narrow- what is the measurement across the shoulders, if you don't mind?

Re: Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

Thanks! I was wondering why everyone was getting all excited about w/ this seat. lol I would love to see one IRL, but w/ all the snow we got I'm not going anywhere unless I have to. It seems like w/ the higher straps though, it won't be as good to use from birth. I know Ilana fit pretty well in the Scenera at a week old and it's the seat I generally reccomend to moms who don't want to buy an infant seat.

They are narrower than the scenera, I don't know by how much. I literally had to wedge Adrian's shoulders in there, BUT he's extremely broad-shouldered, and at the limits of the seat, so I doubt it would be a problem for most kids.

I've only installed it in the landrover discovery, with seat blet and it instaled as easy as a scenera... I'll do more measurments later, going to get the kids from school...

Re: Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

With all the extra padding I might be comfy putting a newborn in the Uptown, depending on the newborn's size. Strap need to be at or below shoulders when RF to prevent ramping up the seat, which should not happen with a tall-shelled seat and straps only an inch or so above the shoulders. As long as they don't slip off and as long as the harness fits tightly I'd be okay with it, personally. JMO, though.

I like that it has a taller seat shell and overall taller top slots, plus EPP foam and a nice cover and padding.

Re: Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

Ok the sholder space is about 9" when you don't push on the padding at all, when you push it you can get 12" or so.

Also on thoes measurments i say someone say on another post that the infant won't push down the padding like a 2 y/o will, so the straps are about 8" when you don't push down the padding for measurments...
If i had a newborn i'd measure but i don't even have a friend w/ a newborn right now! I miss thoes little kids!

Thanks for the shoulder width measurement- (as well as all the other measurements, too!) My friend's 22 month old who is still RF will need a new seat soon, she is in a hand-me-down Comfortsport (From yours truly) w/all the super duper graco-pedic foam which is about 2" thick and dense, so it doesn't really compress. She is a peanut at only 24 lbs, so she would get a long time in a higher weight RF seat like the Uptown, I may just suggest it to her.

Re: Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

I'm wondering if you've looked under the seat at the harness... is it on continuous harness, like the Scenera, or does it have 2 straps with endpoints under the seat, like the Marathon? If I'm not clear, could you just take a picture of the bottom of the seat?

Thanks!!!

Re: Scenera vs Uptown Compairison Pic and stats

Yep it's all on peice of fabric, i'm uploading the pics now but dial up it will take a few.
Also i couldn't get an exceptable rfing install w/ latch in my land rover, just wouldn't tighten enough, but it's great with seat belt, with a smaller child though it would need a noodle/towle/ect b/c it sits up quite upright and my seats are flat as a board, the scenera fits fine w/ a good recline w/o a noodle, ect.

So could the top slots be potentially higher then w/ the compressed foam?

No i pushed down to get a 16" measurement i don't think that a child who weights less then 40lbs would compress it past the 16 mark...
Next time i take it out of the car, maybe this weekend, i'll try abby in it and see how much growth she has in it, she still just bearly is at the top slots in the scenera not sure about the uptown yet though... she is still bearly under 40lbs!

Very cool. Thanks for all the photos. (love your model too btw hehe)

That Uptown looks like a sweet seat. Plush and comfy, more like the Britax
That annoys me about cheaper seats...the covers often times don't even COVER the seat and it's thin and ya just wonder HOW comfy can that be? But this one does..woohoo!!
I can't wait to see/play with this one in person

we do really like it a lot, the seat pad doesn't have thoes little elasticy things that have to clasped around all thoes little hooks, it just the big old cover that has elastic all the way around it and it just wraps on to it... i really like that.

I just realized that your Allie is about the same size as my Abby, and she looks like she's got quite a bit of room at the top (for RFing). That's definitely a seat I'll have to look into.

wow shannon your right... they are close, your abby must be small (then again my allie is kinda big, in the 80% for H&W), all my kids are pretty tall, but short torso heights.
If you want to look at my uptown durring the next class let me know so i'm sure to bring, it, my seats get changed around all to often...

How do you measure torso height? And what stores carry the Uptown, so I can see how much room dd has above her head?
