Lock-offs on Britax G4 seats -- required?

Is it allowed to just run the seatbelt through the RF belt path (over the blue lock-offs, keeping the lockoffs closed), lock the belt at the retractor, pull tight and check for movement? Or do you *have* to use the lock-offs for a seatbelt install?

Unless it's changed between generations, it's not required. I don't use the lock offs on my G3s at all forward facing and in vehicles with locking latch plates I don't rear facing either.

Funny -- I was just going to ask the same question the other day. I hate lockoffs when they're not needed (I have heavy-duty locking latchplates). Such a nuisance.
