Mysterious location of tether bolt

Hello,

We have a '98 Jeep Cherokee Sport (2 door), where my daughter currently rides RF in the centre position. We're starting to think about turning her forward, so we had a look for the tether bolt(s).

Our owner's manual states that they do exist behind the rear passenger's seats, on the floor. All we can see there are the cargo net holders, which are not to be used. I tried calling Jeep and they were no help at all. None of the Jeep dealerships near me have Saturday service hours so it will be a real challenge to take the car in just for a fishing trip. Why would the manual state that the bolts exist if they do not?

We have an appointment for a safety check on the 20th of January - I'd love to get this issue sorted out by then!

Many thanks in advance for your help!

how old is you daughter? If she's less then 2 year old or less then the weight limit for rfing (usally 30, 33, or 35lbs) she should really stay rfing till she out grows the seat rfing, its' much safter and what is recomended by most people and the AAP... :) If she's close to out growing then it is time to start looking for these, dose it not tell or show you any more info then that in the manual? I'd call back and maybe ask to talk with someone eles or a suporvisor that might be better help!

You have a location to screw the hardware in, but not the actual anchor hook. They should be able to add the anchor if you go to the dealer for only a few dollars (for the part), I think.
Definitely rearface to the limits of your convertible seat, it's SO much safer than forward facing :)

Got it.
Our car seat came with a bolt/anchor. Could the dealership use that or do we need to use their part.
We have an Evenflo Triumph seat.
Thanks!

Looks like they should do it for free, have the dealer refer to technical service bulletin 23-08-00 (the generic anchor that came with your seat *may* work, but if it's metric and the other english or vice versa, it could strip the bolts.

I would use the factory set. The part number is:
05003422AB

they'll basically remove the cargo hook assembly and replace it with the tether anchor assebly.
