Diono Radian install on airplane

Hi all. Two years ago we went to FL with my DD, then 2yo, and attempted to install her Diono Radian - twice - and could not get it to install. The buckle for the airplane belt was right in the middle of the belt path, so there was no way to tighten it.

We're now flying again, and we were thinking of taking her very heavy Britax CT Combo seat, because it will install, but we're now hoping to take the Radian. (We would FF her on the plane in the Radian, then switch it to RF for DS - 21 mo. - in the van, and also buy a IMMI Go for DD to use in the van.)

I'm sure you all know how to install it, and I really appreciate your help!!

You need a belt extender for a RF Radian install on an airplane. FF works fine without one.

Right, I didn't think about that - DD was RF at that time. I'm glad to know FF works, b/c that is what we'd be doing. :)

Any pointers, or is it essentially like a FF seat belt install in a car? (Though I assume you can't teether on an airplane.)

Yep, RF requires the extender. FF does not. I had no issues installing on a plane FF a few months ago. It was narrow enough to roll down the aisle on a cross country flight (Southwest). I just had to remember to move the harness up/down. I carried on the RF boot (and DS' backless booster) in a tote bag and stowed them overhead. Familiarize yourself with the path of the lapbelt, too. Our RXT has velcro and snaps in the cover to make it easier to access that path, but I found it less frustrating the second time. The buckle will be in the middle of the belt path.
