Question Alpha Omega Booster

I have an Alpha Omega (the simple one, not the Elite). I just took the straps out to use as a booster seat. Im wondering 2 things....can I use latch to secure it to the vehicle while in booster mode? Also, if I cant use latch (or its not available), can I still use the top tether in booster mode?
Thank you in advance for any help!!

No, Dorel does not allow the use of either the tether or the lower anchors while in booster mode. Do you have your seat manual? There ought to be instructions for stowing those parts.

I will caution you about using that seat as a booster at all. It typically provides very poor lap belt fit by positioning the lap belt high on the belly where there are no bony parts to protect the internal organs, and often poor shoulder belt fit (depending on the child's height). Is a dedicated booster an option at all? Booster fit varies dramatically by vehicle and child, and is all to do with the geometry of the seat belt and shape/build of the child. Usually you can get superior belt fit with a dedicated booster seat, and if using the lower anchors is appealing to you there are boosters that come with that feature in order to avoid having to rebuckle the empty seat. Optimal belt fit is key with boosters, because if the belt isn't fitting properly, the child isn't well-protected in a crash.

If a dedicated booster is a possibility, or you'd like help determining how the belt is positioned on your child with that seat, please post a photo (blur the face if you feel more comfortable doing so).

Thank you. I checked the manual and it talked about stowing the tethers but didnt come right out and say 'do not use'.
I have Frontiers in our 2 vehicles to use as boosters and this was an older seat I had in the garage (good til Dec 2015) that I was hoping to use in the grandparents car. Ill check belt fit and go from there. I have enough money tied up in the frontiers (4 in total) that unless I sell those I dont have a big budget for buying more seats but will if I have to.

Typically frontiers fit children well in booster mode who have already outgrown the harness, or are close to it. You can test it out in the vehicle you would use it in (remove the screw and flip the recline block back) and post pictures if you would like feedback on how it fits now. If it isn't a good fit, Graco Turboboosters often work well and are on the less expensive side.

If you find the fit is not good, I'd much rather see a booster-ready child in an $18 backless from Walmart (Harmony Youth Booster specifically) than an Alpha Omega with how the belt fit usually is.

On a seat of that era you will also almost definitely need to remove the base as well (newer ones do not have removable bases for anyone else reading).

Thanks for all the help. Ive been reading good things about the Cosco Pronto so I may see how that one fits.
I do have the base off the AO (i dont even have it anymore lol), but Im not happy with the lap belt positioning so will take the advice given and get some sort of dedicated booster :)
Thanks again!

How old is the child who needs the booster? Height and weight? The Graco TurboBooster and the Harmony Dreamtime are both cheaper boosters that fit smaller kids well.
