Using Nautilus in booster mode-Mazda 5

Hi,

My DS has grown too tall for the top harness strap on his Nautilus so we are converting it to booster mode (with the back in place). We have a Mazda 5 and he is in the 3rd (back row) which does not have anchors for the latches. Is it aright to use his seat in booster mode in the third row securing him only with the strap that goes over the back of the seat and his seat belt?

We could move him to the middle row and use the latches there but that would mean putting his younger brother (3.5 yrs) in the back (who is still harnessed) in his Maestro.

Hi there!

Yes, it's perfectly fine to not use LATCH to secure the booster. It's offered as an option but isn't required. The main benefit of using LATCH to secure a booster is to keep it from becoming a projectile when it's not in use. Since you won't be LATCHing it, it's a good idea to teach your son to buckle it in when he gets out, just to make sure it doesn't fly around and hit anyone else.

I think the OP is meaning, securing the seat with just the top tether when using in highback booster mode....right?

If so, not sure this would add any benefit so I'd probably skip that step and just secure with the belt when not in use.
