Opinion on Peg Perego Primo Viaggio

I've read all sorts of good and bad reviews on the Peg Pereggo car seat. It seems that the new Latch base is the solution to its problems, does anyone have a comment or review on that. Is the old base not at option at all, is the car seat really bad or is it worth the price?

Thanks for the help!

I have only installed a few-

The old base was problematic for fit in some vehicles. Perhaps the new one is better. Either way, if it fits properly in your car and with your baby then it should be very safe. The only drawback is that the Peg Perego carrier can not be installed in the car without the base. Many other systems can be installed in the car with or without the base. This may or may not be a problem for you, of course, so it is really personal preference.

i have peg primo viaggio car seat and my car is toyota camry 2000.
question #1: do i still have to use top tether anchor with rear facing car seat?
question #2: my car don't have LATCH lower anchor. is there any latch kit that i can use or i just use the seat belt?

thank you very much.

The Viaggio cannot be tethered. There are only a few seats which can be tethered when used rear facing, and most of those are made by Britax.

Don't sweat the LATCH issue. LATCH is not safer than the seatbelt. It is supposed to be easier, but it's not always that, either. As long as the seat is installed properly, it will do a good job of protecting your baby. Take it to a certified child passenger safety technician for assistance & instruction on how to install the seat properly. :)

My 7-month old son just outgrew his Primo Viaggio not too long ago. When I was shopping for an infant seat for him I really, really wanted the Peg Perego because I had the stroller and, this is really bad, I thought they were the best looking seats on the market. But I read so many reviews of people hating the seat and saying that it was outgrown very early. I decided to buy it anyway because I planned on moving him to his Britax fairly early anyway and I don't think one should expect an infant seat to last over 4-5 months anyway. Well at birth my son was 9lbs. 6oz.!!! And he just outgrew the seat according to weight at 6 1/2 months(he has always been in the 90th and 95th percentile for weight and height), and that was way longer then I planned on using the seat. My son didn't hate the seat or seem too confined as many reviewers complain of. I know a lot of reviews I read also complained of babies sweating a lot in this seat. My son did sweat but I think that is very normal of babies, but he was also born in late December and maybe it would have been a problem if he was in it during the hot months. Sorry for rambling I just wanted to share a good opinion of the seat since I love mine! HTH!

When was the base changed?

We've had a few Pegs within the last week or so and most were difficult to install. All were made in 2005.
