Recline bar? Not sure what to do

Hey all,

I got my Regent yesterday (thanks for the input) and now I need to figure out how to install the thing. I read the instructions but I'm still uncertain.

We'll be using a seatbelt (passenger side - 3rd row Odyssey). There is a tether there.

Is there a better seatbelt path? Is short or long preferred?

And, if I use the tether, I do NOT need to use the recline bar, right?

Thanks.

I have two Huskies in the third row of my Ody, we use the long belt path, top tether, and no recline bar. A good trick is to recline the ody seatback a few notches, then after it's installed with the seatbelt as tight as you can get it, PUSH the seatback (or PULL, either way) back more upright to get the seat really super tight.

Thanks.

It went in easily enough (apart from having to lug the huge thing to the car :D )

As a follow up question, what is the recline bar for, anyway? How does it work?

Sorry, I'm not as car-seat knowledgable as you all, just a mom trying to get it right. ;)

The recline bar helps with head excursion in a seat that is not tethered. It is also used for confort, but I think that is an afterthought.

Yeah, for head excursion (they measure it a funny way... the head's movement forward from a fixed point right behind the seatback...) I think if the head starts out back further in comparison to the bum being a bit further forward, then it (the head) flies forward less (????).
Anyway, that's what we're here for (bonus points if you search the site and find the pictures of the Husky installed in the Ody in exactly the same place you are putting yours...there's a whole page on it, but I don't have time to dig it up).

:)
