Installed Marathon in center back using outboard LATCH...OK?

Yesterday, I drove to the local seat fitting station to install our new Britax Marathon in our 2002 Subaru Outback. I wanted to put it in the center back rather than the side, even though that meant giving up using LATCH, so I thought that I'd have to use the belt, but they said that they recommended installing it in the center using the two outboard anchors. That's what we did.

It was therefore a pretty simple installation, and feels secure to me; I don't have the expertise to tell whether the angle is somehow wrong/different from how it would be had I used either left or right with the actual anchors. So, I wanted to ask here whether there are any reasons I *shouldn't* do this. Thanks!

This is a bit of a grey area-

The technicians may be right, but I couldn't say for sure without access to the owner's manuals.

In general, either the vehicle owner's manual or the carseat owner's manual must permit this. In addition, the other manual must not specifically prohibit it. So, please check your manuals carefully to see. Britax may allow this on some of their seats, but you must verify this in your manual or by calling Britax directly.
