Boosters

Hi all! I'm looking at a backless booster that will be used in an upcoming trip this summer. The rental car will likely be a Ford Focus or similar size (compact). It will be carried on board as a carryon. What booster do you like for not everyday use (but will have long drives 1 1/2 hrs +) that is easy to carry and be comfy? Child is 8 yrs old, 4'2" and 56 lbs (based on last checkup). They are more leggy than anything.

Thank you. I'll check out a Walmart to see what is available!

What about the Incognito? Would that be a good choice as well?

I would have no problems using it on a child that is 8 and 50 ins and most likely heavier in clothing.

It's a great option for bigger kids.

I have a question on the BubbleBum. Do kids that are leggy fit well in it for longer drives (say 2 hrs or so)? Are there any stores that have it on display so she can try it first?

I know it's a no-no for rental a harness seat at a rental place but what about booster seats?

The Bubble Bum doesn't have much leg support at all. But my 8yo was fine using it for a 4 hour drive recently with a footrest (we just put one of our carryon bags at her feet in the rental car).

Boosters are so easy to carry with I wouldn't take a chance with a rental.

As for seeing the Bubble Bum in stores, some Target stores carry them. (ours started carrying them in store the week after I ordered mine )

I have a child the same size as the OP's (well, 3 lbs lighter). He's 50 inches tall, 53 lbs, and 8.5 years old. I ordered the Incognito to give it a try, knowing that I will use it with my 60+ lb nephew...but I have to say I will NOT use it w/my skinny 8.5 year old right now. It does NOT make for a good lap belt fit on him in my car, and I suspect it wouldn't work in many cars to position the lap belt correctly on a kiddo his size. Just my 2 cents...but I feel Safety First did a good job testing and determining what size kiddo is best protected by the Incognito.

The Cosco Top Side is also only $13 and it's at Target, too. Fits just the Harmony Lite Rider/Youth booster.
