She keeps sliding the chest clip down...

She couldn't really budge it when she was in her Britax Wizard. She has a Radian now and as soon as I buckle her in, she moves the chest clip down.... She doesn't move it down far, but farther down than what I like it... Is this too far down? How can I keep her to leave it alone?

I think that looks OK, but I wouldn't like it any lower down. It's still over the bones in her chest. Preferably it would be up so the top of the clip is about another 1/2-1" or so higher (hard to tell with the pic). The harness straps are still squarely on her shoulders and that's exactly where we want them to be and the chest clip is there to keep them on the shoulders.

Is it a comfort issue with her? The straps look pretty close together on her, so she might be moving it down to keep them from squeezing her throat.

Yeah, I think it looks fine. And if she never bothered the ones on the wizard, and she's only sliding this one down a smudge, it probably is uncomfortable where you have been putting it.
If she leaves it there, I wouldn't push the issue. As long as she doesn't move it down farther.

Next time you put her in, put it where YOU want it and look to see how the straps are lying on her neck. Also ask her why she wants is lower.

I'm glad you asked, because I was about to! My daughter (4) is starting to do this, and it's just a little bit, like the pic you posted. Good to know that it's okay, as long as it's not lower than that. I'll have to pay more attention to where the straps are on her neck.

AJ just started this too, how strange. lol He slides it ALL the way down though and then moves strap covers down too. He only seems to do it when DH is driving though (thankfully b/c I can see it then and then tell him to move it back up).

Thanks for the replies...it makes me feel better that it's still in an "ok" spot. She doesn't move it any lower, that's just right where she likes it. It has to be the chest clip on the Radian, because she never did it with her Wizard chest clip. The Radian chest clip is bulkier though..maybe that has something to do with it.

chest clip

I wonder if the harness straps irritate her when the chest clip is higher. perhaps you could slide the padded strap covers down a smidge to see if that increases her comfort...
