Recline Check Please - Foonf

Hello!

We installed our convertible car seat, the Foonf, this weekend. We went step by step by the manual and watched videos on You Tube. We feel like the car seat is not reclined enough as our son's head slumps a little forward when he falls asleep in the car. He will be 8 months old tomorrow.

The car seat is installed in a GLK350 if that matters. I will also have the seat checked on Tuesday but I'm wondering if there is anything immediately that can be done to ensure he is safe.

Thank you!

Hi there.

If it's within the proper recline angle, an eight month old's head falling forward is not a safety concern. Most eight month olds have the ability to lift their head in their sleep. Unless he's bothered by it, provided it's installed properly, I wouldn't worry.

Are you using the blue recline angle lines on the base in reference to the ground? Is it in recline 3 or 2? 3 is more reclined.
If both those check out, then I agree with Wendy in reassuring you its all good!

It looks like the straps are not tight. Tightening the straps may help. I'm not familiar enough with the seat to know if the level is good.

You are in recline 3 and within the allowable range so I wouldn't worry too much. You can scoot the ARB up a smidge in order to recline the seat a bit more but just stay in the blue for the ground level.

Hi,
We also have the Foonf. Head slump is awful and our son is 3yrs 6mos. it's installed in a 2013 Porsche Cayenne. Seat adjusted to #2 (forward facing) and today I even tried reclining the seat back slightly -didn't help. So weird that so many child car seat seem to ignore the fact that toddler heads are bigger than the rest of their bodies. Best of Luck
