Car Seat Recommendation - 2005 Ford Escape

We recently purchased the Alpha Omega Elite for my 6 month old daughter who has outgrown her infant seat. The problem is that when we install the seat, the level lines, even with something stuffed underneath the seat, are not level to the ground in the rear-facing position.

Is there a limit as to who much high we can raise the base so that it will be level? What if it's not EXACTLY level? What risk does this pose to the baby?

Can you recommend a car seat for my car?

Thanks!

try installing it without the base on. Instructions will tell you how to take the base off and it is usually easier this way. Also if your daughter can sit unassisted she doesnt need the full 45* angle and can be a little more upright.

Although she can sit unassisted now, she would still have to be reclined to some degree and I didn't think it was safe to put a rear-facing seat in without the base. The seats in our Escape slope downwards unfortunately and that's what is causing the problem.

Yes she will still need some angle, children who dont really need any angle still cannot have their seat above 30* upright, but since she can sit unassisted it isnt required for her to have the full 45* angle.

I would definitely see a tech for help installing it. Do you know the local number for your techs? If not you can locate one through www.safekids.org What part of canada are you in?

They periodically have clinics where I live, however, they haven't advertised when the next one is. I'm going to call the city tomorrow and find out.

Thanks for the info.

My husband called Dorel and they confirmed that as long as DD is not at any more than a 45 degree angle, she will be fine.

Thanks for all your help everyone. :)

FWIW, my DD outgrew the AO harness FF before RF & *way* too soon for booster-mode ... the Britax Marathon fits really well FF & RF outboard & center in the 2005 Escape
