Chest clips

My almost 4 year old ds has started pulling his chest clip down on his evenflo chase seat and taking the harness straps off... When I see it I tell him to put his straps back on and put his clip up. Is there anything I can do?

At 4yrs he's old enough to understand why it's important for him to leave the clip alone, have you explained it to him? My 2.5yr old understands that it's important to be tightly buckled into his seat to keep him safe. Giving him something small to keep his hands busy might also help (a matchbox car, transformer, or snack).

I used to pull over every time I saw them messing with their seats. I know it is not always convenient but even the words, I am pulling over would get them to stop.

At 4 explain it to him that those straps keep him safe.

My DD started doing this when she was a little over two. We had a lot of talks about staying safe, police officers and how they check that everyone has their seatbelt on, etc. Also we pulled over when she would push the clip down. She is rear facing so that made it tougher to see but I learned that certain movements of her shoulders meant that she was trying to wiggle out of the shoulder straps.
