older vehicles/child restraints
I have seen the posts on the super elite. It looks great, but I can't afford 2 of them, nor do I want to wait till May. I saw on the NHTSA site that you can sometimes have a vehicle retrofitted with shoulder harnesses in order to be able to use belt positioning high back boosters. Has anyone had this done? Is it very costly?
The vehicles I have that need retrofit are an 89 ford Aerostar (prefer middle seat useage) and 81 Buick regal. I am going to be needing seats for 2 children (ages 2 and 4). A friend bought a seat from Fisher Price that had 5 point harnesses for up to 65 pounds(like the Super Elite) a year or two ago. It was only about $85.00. Fisher Price quit making them- before I could get one. I don't always get back to boards, please email me privately (tchomemom3@wmconnect.com) with any suggestions or input. Thanks so much for your site- I've been wondering for months what I was going to do with my situation.
