Are there car seat laws for motor homes? What kind of child restraint should I use for my 3 1/2 yr. old in a motor home with only lap belts? What should we do when he reaches 40lbs/4 yrs.old?

Even with only a lap belt and no tether, this model meets the strictest requirements other new carseats have to meet. Unfortunately, FP exited the carseat business so this might be the last batch of new Futuras.

You definitely want your child in a carseat, just make sure to install it in a front-facing passenger seat, not one that is side or rear facing.

Laws may vary state to state, but the laws of physics are universal.

The Britax Super Elite and Laptop are other good options, but are also a bit hard to find.
