Infant Carseats for Twins?

I have a 2000 Honda Accord (4 door) and need to know if two infant seats (with detachable bases) will fit in my backseat. The twins won't be here for another 4 months so I have time to shop around. Any suggestions on carseat brands or other info would be much appreciated!

Re: Infant Carseats for Twins?

Hello,

I can't recommend specific models, but I can recommend some resources for you.

First, try the "Buying Guide" link under the banner at the top of the page. It has information on features, and links to other sites that do have some specific recommendations.

Next, try the "Compatibility" link right next to it. That database can help you see what other parents have used in your vehicle.

Many new models will be on the shelves in the next few months, and they will have the new LATCH system. You don't necessarily need LATCH, but it is something to consider if you are looking at a new vehicle or have another caregiver with a car that has LATCH.

Good luck!

Depending on the child seats you may have to install the child seats on the two outboard positions as oposed to one in the center and one next to it.

Re: Infant Carseats for Twins?

We have 7 month old twins and the Gravo Duoglider system and the Grace Snugride DX5 car seats. The seats will fit just fine in the outboard positions of your Accord (I have a similarly sized Maxima).
We love the Duoglider because we can put both car seats directly on the stroller and keep mobile while the twins sleep. We take the whole system, car seats on the stroller into restaurants all the time... we can even feed in the system...
But... the duoglider, if it fits in your trunk, will take up every inch... If you intend to travel more than very short drives... you'll quickly find yourself in need of a bigger car for all the "stuff" that you'll need. (can't fit a pack and play and a stroller in the trunk of a car together)...

In any event, the seats should fit for you.
