Question Toddler seat too big for car

Hello. We have purchased an evenflo tribute LX toddler seat. Our son is 1 year old. We would like to keep him rear facing as long as possible however the seat says to install level with the arrow indicated creating a 45 degree angle when rear facing. When we do this, the seat will not fit in our two door car. The manual is conflicting because it says rear facing INFANTS must be level with the indicated line. Since our son is no longer an infant, can we have the seat rear facing without it being leveled at a 45 degree angle?

As far as I know, Evenflo currently requires that line be level. You can call and see what they have to say.

Or if you would like recommendations for something else that might work better we'd be happy to help with that!

If you can still return the Tribute, the Cosco Scenera NEXT (from Walmart) has several advantages over the Tribute. The Scenera NEXT has a 40" rear-facing height limit compared to the Tribute's 37". And, importantly for you, the Scenera NEXT can be installed as upright as you want, once the child can sit up independently.
