2015 Mazda 3 Gracco/Britax seats

We have a Mazda 3 and are looking for a convertible car seat for our 7 month old. He is tall and big for his age (18.5 pounds 27.5 inches at his six month checkup) and has outgrown his Gracco Snugride 30 infant seat. We would like to keep him rear facing for as long as possible. Will the Gracco 4Ever or Gracco Extend2Fit fit comfortably in a Mazda 3? My husband is 5 ft 10 and I am 5 ft 5.

Second, somewhat related question: We have also looked at the Britax Marathon. I think it would fit our car, but the harness seems difficult to adjust. When it fit tightly against our son's hips and shoulders, there was still a gap between his chest and the chest buckle.

The Extend2Fit will fit very well in your Mazda. I put one in a 2012 Mazda 3 sedan in the middle with the front seats one click forward from all the way back.

When tightening the Marathon's harness, did you pull up at the crotch strap on the harness to make sure the hips are snug, then leave the chest clip down while you tighten the harness? I find doing that means all of the slack is above the chest clip and much easier to get snug than leaving the chest clip high while I tighten the harness. That goes for any harnessed seat.
