Hi,

Until today, the evenflo maestro was my travel car seat. Today, I found out that my 5 year old now weighs a little over 50 pounds so unfortunately I cannot continue to use the maestro with the 5 point harness anymore, and I have to use it in the booster mode. I tried it as a booster today and I did not like it at all. It took a lot of work getting the seat belt to be positioned right and it was difficult to buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt because of the side wings of the seat. It basically takes me a good 5 minutes to get it right so it takes longer than adjusting a 5 point harness! My 5 year old hates that he cannot buckle/ unbuckle himself. I now think I need a new travel car seat. I need something lightweight good for travel and under $100 that makes it easy to position the seat belt right and easy to buckle and unbuckle so that even my 5 year old can do it. What would you recommend?
Thank you so much!

Not for use on plane, just for use in rental car. Would be happy to keep him harnessed but want to buy something that will last a while so don't want to buy a harnessed seat if he is going to outgrow it in a few months which is why I am leaning towards a highback booster...very disappointed that the 5 point harness did not last longer on the maestro...thanks!

Does he sit properly in a booster? Many five year olds don't.

If he does, a Harmony Folding Booster would go in the overhead, so then you don't have to trust it to the baggage handlers who may misplace, damage, or lose it. Or send it somewhere else.

Yeah, if you want to get a new harnessed seat, the SureRide/Titan65 is your best bet. It goes to 65 lbs and is very tall. It's lightweight and I've found it easy to install.
