Issue installing Diono RTX RF using seatbelt in 2015 Elantra

Hi there,

Does anyone else have a 2015 Elantra and a Diono RTX? I had to take my seat out to fix the buckle that inexplicably got twisted. My son is three and 30lbs and will be reaching the latch limit soon and I thought I would try to use the seatbelt to install the seat. The problem is that the buckle goes up in the belt path and I can't get a good install. I want to eventually have a third child and put three of these seats in the car using the seatbelt. I'm a little discouraged.

What do you mean goes up in the belt path?

If you're having trouble getting it through the rear facing belt path, put the seat on its side and dangle the belt through.

Hi and welcome!

Do you mean that part of the buckle ends up inside the belt path? The general solution to that is to twist the buckle stalk (the short piece of seat belt that the female part of the buckle is attached to) up to 3 full turns to shorten the stalk.

I don't have an Elantra, but I had the same problem installing our Diono seat with the seatbelt. Twisting the buckle stalk as the above person suggested fixed the problem.
