Question Re-booster my 12.5 year old?

Recently I've been learning about car seat safety from my friends. The day I heard them teach me the 5-step test, I saw my 12.5 year old dd with just the seatbelt. The shoulder belt hit her on the high neck and the lap belt was positioned on her abdomen.

Should I get a booster for her? She is 12.5 years old, 60-61 inches tall and 86 pounds fully clothed. She sounds tall enough to be without one, but she is ALL legs (torso height is around 17 inches!!)

DD also has Moderate Scoliosis, hypotonia/low tone, and hypermobile joints and flops around even when she's awake, so I would prefer a HBB. Are there any boosters (HBB or NBB) that you would recommend?

If this is important to you, most of our trips are 2-3 hours long and sometimes really late (so dd may go to sleep). Any comfier/extra padding boosters that I wasn't aware of? Most boosters go to 4-foot-9 and she is over that!

I wouldn't stress the overall height limits of the booster if the belt fit is all good. You can call the manufacturer to discuss if you'd like.

I'd recommend the Safety 1st Boost Air and the Diono Cambria. Both require headrests behind them, but I'm assuming you have that already if she's been sitting with nothing (which requires headrests). They both have 23" top belt guide heights, which is high enough for my torso at 61" (and I have short legs). They go to 120 pounds. The Cambria does go to 63", so you're within all specs for it.

Thank you all for your quick replies!

I think I will go with the Cambria (thanks Wendy!). Like I said, our trips are usually long (and sometimes late) so I think dd will appreciate the fact that she would be able to rest her head. I searched it up and it also looks very comfy.

I asked her for her opinion on it (showed her a picture of it) and she declared it suitable. Bang goes the gavel and dd is getting a seat.

Thanks again!
