Radian Crotch Strap- can it be under the child?

My 3.25 year old is now forward facing in her XTSL in my MILs vehicle. She always complains about the crotch strap (really tight)- it's now a little under her, and on the outermost position. Is this okay (safety-wise)? Should I look into a different seat for her? We're supposed to be getting a Frontier85 in tomorrow for her in our main vehicle, I'm hoping that the crotch strap there is better.

Ahh, thanks! I let a friend borrow my manual and my spare (cough*nerd*cough) is packed away (we're moving).

I was doing some searching on here and read about a longer Radian crotch strap. Is it something that's already on the newer XTSLs and was previously shorter in older models (like the recline boot change) or is it just another option?

That's ... a very good question, and one that I don't have the answer to.

I suppose I could compare my older RN to my new RN. I know that you can order the longer ones, but I'm not sure if it's *just* an option, rather than it's being sold on all newer ones, yk?

Let me go run and check my new RN for you. :)

Interestingly enough, my old crotch buckle is about .5" longer than my new RN, DOM 8/10.

I did buy my other RN from swap, so perhaps the original owner bought a longer strap?

I've no idea, sorry!

My RN XTSL, DOM 11/09 and my RN 65SL DOM 8/10 have the same length crotch straps.

The older one, DOM ... something or another, has the longer one, but it's only longer by .5" or so. I can't recall how much longer the replacements are. Interesting though.

ETA: We weren't the only ones who thought of this. :p

I found a thread (and lost it.. lol) that said the short ones and the long ones are an inch apart.

I think I'm going to create a new thread in Car Seat Chat and ask everyone to measure their Radian's crotch straps and post the DOMs.. I'm really curious now!
