Evenflo Chase?

Evenflo Chase?

As my 28 month old's shoulders are approaching (but not yet quite at) the top slot on the Cosco Alpha Omega, I've been looking at forward facing/booster convertibles whenever I come across them.

Today, at my local Babies R' Us I saw the Evenflo Chase. They have it for $49.00 or $59.00. It has high top slots (Sarabeth, at 37" or so, is still well below the top 2 settings), the harness is adjustable from the front, and the seatbelt guides for use as a booster are built in, rather than being sewn onto the seat cover.

All in all, it looks like a really good next choice for us, and the price is certainly right. Any feedback on this seat?

Thanks!

More on the Evenflo Chase

Further research suggests that this is the same seat as the Express, but with armrests.

Thanks.

I think it's a good one...

I really like the on-the-harness adjuster, but I do recommend you try it out to be sure that *you* like it. Some people find it frustrating.

My other recommendations are on the 2nd half of this page. www.car-safety.org/carseats.html

HTH!

Thanks, and another question

Thanks. I'll head over to the store one day at lunch and play with the adjuster.

Ulrike, from reading your notes, it seems that the belt guides that look like locking clips can be used as safely as the ones built into the plastic of the seat itself. My concern has been that over time, the ones sewn into the fabric could come loose, rendering them useless. What's your opinion of this?

Thanks.

While it's a possibility, it doesn't seem to occur very ofte

It doesn't seem to occur very often. I can only think of one post I've read where a parent has had a problem with a sewn on belt guide coming loose.
