Could someone check a tether manual for me?

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile van that I would like to install a tether anchor in. we currently have 4 anchors (1 for each middle row captain's chair and one on each outboard seating position on the back row.) I would like to be able to tether a seat in the middle of the back bench if I can but I'm not sure it's possible, the dealer is clueless so I guess it's up to me to sleuth it out. I know it would likely have to go into the floor of the cargo area since the seat is a 50/50 split but that's as far as I've gotten on my own. Any help is appreciated - with a fourth child in the family due this fall and little friends/relatives riding with us I will likely have a seat there enough to warrant a tether.

i looked in my tether manual.

the only things listed for olds vans in my manual are the 01-03 silhouette. the information on a 2000 model is not in there :(

for the years listed it does say there are no anchors outboard in the 3rd row but that there is one on the actual seat for the center. i would not use anything that looks like a suitable anchor on the seat without calling oldsmobile and asking first, since we are talking about different model years (which could be radically different cars).

sorry! i think it's definitely worth a call to olds to find out.

Thanks for checking...

That is odd that they would go from 2 anchors in the back to just one I think..... Mine are all on the seatback (the base of the seatback) so I know what hey must be talking about but I still find it weird LOL

Maybe they changed the seat to a 60/40 split after mine b/c I do know that I could NOT put a tether anchor on the middle seat location of my 50/50 bench. Or at least I don't see a way. I'll email Olds and see what they say - If they tell me anything decent I'll post back.

Thanks again.

tether for oldsmobile

Hi
When I changed my car seat to forward facing I got it checked by a Car Seat Technician and she told me that I could not put my seat forward facing in the middle of my back seat because it was a 50/50 split. the tether would slide down in between the seats and would be useless. I don't have an Oldsmobile but a 4Runner but I would think that all 50/50 split back seats would be the same.

That is likely true...

...although if the manufacturer approved a tether anchor location in that position, a tether could still be used; you'd probably just have to pull it down and through the split in the seat.

A Britax versatether would also likely be compatible there, since it has two points on the sides of the seat shell it comes from. It wouldn't be in the middle of the split that way.
