Hi-

You could try the "Compatibility" link under the top banner and see what might have worked well for other parents in recent Maximas. Otherwise, you should find one that you like, and make sure you get a good return policy. If you have trouble installing it, please visit our website at http://www.seatcheck.net to locate a technician for free help with your child seat!

If you can post the age and weight of your child, you might get a few more suggestions on popular models:)

If you need a convertible.

From your email, I can't tell what kind of carseat you're looking for or what year your Maxima is.

I can tell you that I have a 2000 Maxima SE (this body style has stayed the same until the ones that are just redesigned this year) with leather and have had trouble getting seats to fit in the midde rearfacing--which is my current preference. However, I've gotten a good fit in the middle with the Britax Marathon. Despite its larger size and length, it has a more narrow base (than for example the Roundabout which I have in a different car) that fits well in the center. I also use a rubbery pad underneath it to prevent slipping on the leather.

If you wanted it on the side RF, I'm not sure it would fit lengthwise unless the seat in front of it were all the way forward and I haven't installed FF yet so I don't know about that but assume I will have a good fit that direction as well.

I've had it checked a couple of times by a local CPS Tech and recommend that you do too once you pick a seat. It does loosen up a bit over time for whatever reason (I think the leather) so remember to check it and retighten occasionally.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

leather seats can be tricky to install on, they are slippery and sometimes a seat slides no matter how tight you think you have it. if you can look at seats in person and take them to your car to try them out before you buy, that is the best thing to do. and if you find you have trouble getting them tight, call a CPS tech to help you and give you some ideas.

the marathon suggested above is a nice seat that your child will use for years to come as it has a higher weight limit than most seats (65 lbs).
