LATCH booster seats

I just bought a Honda Odyssey with LATCH connectors on the 2nd row seats. I love the car but can't find a compatible booster seat for my 40 & 50 pound children.

The NHTSA web site shows a picture of a car seat with rigid anchors on the bottom in addition to the tether. This looks like a good system, but are there any car seats made with rigid anchors? Car seat mfg. web sites are a waste of time, each one has information on LATCH, but no list of their compatible car seats.

Seems like car mfg. are way ahead of car seat mfg. Is it really harder to make a car seat than a car?

Sincerely,

Paul S. Martin

A LATCH booster option (Honda Odyssey Etc)

See the review below on how to use the Century EZ-LATCH kit with a Century high back booster:

Also see some pictures of my installation of a Century NextStep DX booster with EZ LATCH in a Honda Odyssey:

In your case, this may not be an option since your children are over 40 pounds. Boosters for over 40 pounds are just positioners so you can use the vehicle seat belts as the primary restraint. There is no need for LATCH in these cases, though the Century EZ LATCH kit can still be used to keep the booster from moving around.

There are a couple front-facing harnessed seats for children over 40 pounds. These include the Fisher Price Futura (discontinued) and the Britax Super Elite. Neither has LATCH compatibility yet, though it is possible a retrofit kit may eventually become available for the Britax model.
