Today, DH and I were shopping at the mall. At one of the stores, the sales person was talking about DS. He's 15 months and 26 lbs. One of the random questions she asked us was if we had turned DS around in the car yet. I tried to quickly summarize why we had not without getting into a lecture. I hate to just say no b/c if she ever had a kid I'd want to at least have put the idea of extended RFing in her head. DH thinks I sound crazy when I start talking about CR stuff. I figure she asked... so she can listen to me for a second or two. WWYD?

I usually say something like "The professionals now recommend keeping kids rear facing as long as possible, some kids rear face until they are preschoolers!" and leave it at that.

Brief, to the point, informative, not judgmental.

I'd definitely say something. Probably just a simple nope, still rf'ing just because it's so much safer and he still fits his seat so I see no need to change him around. She can always ask more questions if she wants to... I think just saying it's so much safer is enough to plant a seed.

My favorite response:

"Why would I do that yet when the AAP + manufacturer instructions say to keep him RF till the maximum limits?"
