Radian 65- Safe Stop

I can not for the life of me get the metal hook through the loop in the safe stop. Am I doing something wrong or could it possibly be defective? Did anyone else have a hard time?

The metal hook through the safe stop? You should put the two harness webbings onto the metal portion of the safe stop at the top, and then the metal portion (called the splitter plate) through the bottom of the safe stop. Is that what you are talking about? The bottom of this picture here?

This is what it looks like when it's in storage, so when it's not connected to the back of the harness.

Also, please keep in mind, you only use the Safe Stop under three conditions.

In order to use the Safe Stop, you must meet all three of the following requirements:

(1) Child must be FF
(2) Seat must be installed using the top tether
(3) Child must be under 40 lbs.

If you answer "no" to any of the statements, you do not use the safe stop. If you answer "yes" to all of these statements, you must use the Safe Stop.

It's difficult but should not be impossible. You have to really scrunch it up to get the last bit on. Do you have a picture you could post? If you do we can probably tell you whether it looks normal or not.

ETA: Mae, I was assuming she was talking about the bottom of the SS. The part that attaches to the plate from the harness. ;)

Thanks ladies.

Yeah, the bottom loop of the safe stop harness is SO tight, I can't ever really get the metal part even started through it. I worked on it for over an hour today and finally gave up.

Yes, all 3 of those requirements are met, but thanks for checking.:)

ETA: I'll try to take a picture tomorrow.

Hm, yeah that's a bit odd. By looking at the picture I posted, would you say that your "webbing" at the bottom is roughly the same length as mine?

I'd give Sunshine Kids a call --

I fought with mine (to take it off) for a solid hour once, then I got fed up and cut it off. I ordered a replacement from SKJP. I think it was $8. My replacement is slightly easier to work with.
