RF marathon tether ?

I have moved our daughter to the middle and she is still RF in her marathon. I have an 8 seater 2004 Toyota Sienna. I didn't have anything to attach the tether to, so I brought it under the seat and attached it to the tether hook on the back side of the seat. Hope that makes sense. Is that safe to do? Other wise, I can't find any other stationary metal parts to attach the tether too.
Thanks.

Somebody on here told me that Britax doesn't allow that anymore. Do you not have a leg or anything available under a front seat? It is okay for the tether to go to the side a bit, since she is in the middle.

Nope britax does not allow you to tether to the same seat when RF...you must tether down to the front of the car.

What kind of car are you in...someone here may be able to help you out.

you can tether Marathon RF to the Sienna's front seat rail

There's a squarish plastic cover on the back edge of the front seat tracks/rails in the Sienna. Use a screwdriver to pry off the plastic cover from the back edge of either front seat's inboard seat track. (You can toss the plastic cover in your glovebox for safe keeping). Then you can loop the short strap with the metal D-ring around the rail and clip the tether to the the metal D-ring. Then tighten up the tether strap and presto, your Marathon will be tethered rear facing. :)

I used to have the seat tethered to one of the front seats when it was by the wondow. One of the main reasons I moved it, besides safety, was so my husband and I could adjust the seats when driving or being a passenger. He is a foot taller then me and could never be a passenger in our van. Now, it will affect the tether if the seat is moved.

I tether my Britax seat to the same spot mentioned above, which I believe is the same spot shown in the video posted. Tethering to that spot will not interfere with moving either seat because it is at the back of the seat rail and even when the seat is in the furthest back position it doesnt come close to coming into contact with where you have it tethered.

Same here, my youngest DD's Boulevard is tethered to the front passenger seat railing as described above, and it doesn't interfere with moving the front seat forward or back.

Ok, I can't seem to get the videos to work. When I click on the small picture it just shows up as a bunch of symbols. As for now, I attached to the bar under the passenger seat with the passenger seat as far back as it will go. So it should be ok. Ther seat is in verytight. I still would like to see the video. Kinda funny, I have the same color van as the video with the same Ashley print Marathon.

I don't have a Sienna, but get the impression that you suggest tethering a RF seat to a STATIONARY point under the front seats and NOT to the moving base of the front seat? My 2001 Saab manual says to tether a rf seat to the bar that runs across the bottom of the front seat, but which moves when the seat is adjusted. Does this sound safe? It also says that the fixing points are color marked, but there is nothing colored under there. There is a bar that looks exactly like the picture in the manual but thought I would ask. I was just discussing this with my friend who has a marathon rf w/o tether in a 2005 Suburu wagon. I told her to go look into where she could tether because it would help tremendously with rock solid installation.

Yes, it's much better to tether to a non-moving point, because in a crash, the vehicle seat can move and pull on the tether. But some vehicle seats have tether anchors on them (Ford vans come to mind) and they make good rf tether points for the seats behind them because you don't have to bother with the tether connector strap. If your vehicle manual addresses rf tethering specifically, follow your vehicle manual instructions.
