If you could pick any infant car seat...

What would it be, and why?

We are getting ready to buy a seat for the 2nd baby. We have a SafeSeat1 that we'll be using for one of them that will go behind the passenger seat. DH says he would like something smaller for behind the driver seat, if we can find something we like. Right now I keep going back to SafeSeats though. I can't find a snugride that I like! Anyway, suggest away and tell me WHY!!!

FTR- anything will fit. :)

I really like the Maxi-Cosi CabrioFix. Safe and looks great. Not sure if it's available in US/Canada?

I used the Graco Snugride for my little ones and it was fine but ugly as sin and I don't think SIP was great. Today I would have bought the MC.:twocents:

No, the only Maxi Cosi we have here in the states is the Mico and it's not as good.

OP, did you know the Safeseat handle can be left up in the car? That may give you the extra space you need? The Key Fit or Snugride is a little shorter, though, try them in your car at Babies R Us before you buy one, though to be sure.

I would vote for KeyFit. I've never had the opportunity to use one, in fact I had the first come through a check event with a live baby (not expectant parent) but EVERY SINGLE ONE I've ever installed has been a breeze (From the older pick up, to the fancy SUV, to the2 door sedan, to the generic 4 Honda/Camry/Taurus)

Latch - attach, pull strap, check level indicator. If "bubble" isn't right, loosen, adjust incline and tighten again.

Seat belt - buckle, your choice of lock off on base or seat belt. See above for level indicator.

The seat is easy to attach / detach from the base, the straps are low and snug for newborns yet the seat is tall enough that most kids won't outgrow it in 3 months.

Thanks for the replies!! I am going to drag him to BRU next week to look again and try to make a decision! :)

Even with the handle up, DH doesn't have enough room. He's 6'4. I guess I'll have to drive everywhere if we get another SS1!

I have used Britax companion for my twins and loved it. At the time I choose this one because of the anti-rebound bar.
I also like the head support it provides to infants. It has an inflatable head support so you can adjust to your own baby as he/she grows.

My babies just outgrew their companion car seats, so I am getting ready to sell them. I was very pleased with them during this short amount of time that I have used them and I would definitely recommend them to any body.
